100 Days of Momentum: President Trump’s Second Term
Yesterday marked the first 100 days of President Trump’s second term. During this time, we have witnessed an active presidency focused on fulfilling the goals he outlined during his campaign. While much remains to be accomplished in the coming years, several key areas have already been significantly impacted: border security and immigration, the examination and removal of self-defeating policies and spending in the federal government, and early steps toward revitalizing our economy by encouraging growth in manufacturing and energy self-sufficiency.

Restored Border Security and Gang Crackdowns
In these early months, President Trump has restored a strong border with common-sense policies to keep our country safe. Illegal border crossings have been dramatically reduced, and ICE has been empowered to crack down on violent gangs such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. This has led to a reduction in crime in our cities and a decrease in dangerous drugs like fentanyl on our streets. It also sends a clear message to the world that America will actively combat the trafficking of people, especially children, across our borders.
The implementation of laws such as the Laken Riley Act demonstrates that America is committed to protecting its citizens as well as those outside our country who are at risk of being trafficked and abused. Here in El Dorado County, we have felt the impact of the prior administration’s destructive policies, particularly through an increase in drugs and homelessness, which puts our loved ones at risk and damages our communities. President Trump’s crackdown on these issues can help strengthen our county and improve safety for our families and friends.
D.O.G.E. and the Elimination of DEI
One of President Trump’s boldest moves has been the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), headed by Elon Musk. This department is laser-focused on revealing wasteful government spending and finding ways to reduce the bloated structure of the federal bureaucracy, ensuring that American tax dollars have a more direct impact on benefiting American citizens.
A significant step toward improving the structure of the federal government, particularly the executive branch, has been the elimination of policies and departments that promote self-defeating or anti-American values. This includes the removal of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) departments, which have spent tax dollars to promote ideas that sabotage Americans’ opportunities to succeed and grow based on their own merit. El Dorado County has long been a place that values hard work and merit, dating back to the days of the Gold Rush. We combine long-standing family legacies of work and entrepreneurship with new, young families working on cutting-edge growth and improvements.
Revitalizing American Production
One area that both President Trump and Vice President Vance have spoken about with great passion is opening the doors to allow our nation to be the vital source of production it once was. These early days have seen the President take critical steps in tearing down barriers that have made manufacturing and energy production a challenge in recent years. By eliminating cumbersome regulations, renegotiating trade deals, and empowering our nation’s industries, he is encouraging the growth of American businesses, American-made goods, and American-generated energy. All of this not only strengthens local economies, such as here in El Dorado County, but also improves America’s capacity to be more self-reliant, which enhances our security and standing in global negotiations.
Looking Ahead to Future Elections
While we appreciate the revitalization of our country under this current administration, it is important to look ahead to the future and the steps we need to take next to ensure that future generations get to enjoy growing up in a great nation. Several figures in the Democratic Party are making moves to set themselves up as potential future candidates. Recently, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Senator Bernie Sanders spoke at an event at Folsom Lake College. While they attempted to paint their event as a voice against local representatives such as Representative Kevin Kiley, in reality, their rally comes off more as a not-so-subtle challenge to Governor Gavin Newsom right on his doorstep. There has been a great deal of talk about Newsom running for a presidential race, but it appears many in the party are not afraid to challenge him on his own turf. As we look to the future, we need to consider how we can best support our own candidates in local, state, and federal elections to give them the tools they need to continue making America’s present and future great.
How to Keep Our Country Growing
Investing time and money into making America great is an investment in the future for our children and future generations. It also improves the lives of our family and friends here in the present. There are many ways to contribute, whether your resources are vast or limited:
Volunteer: Phone banking, precinct walking, and manning a table at an event are just a few of the ways you can invest your time to help the candidates who best represent your values succeed. Whether you are highly active or have limited mobility, there are ways for anyone to help.
Support Fundraisers: Attend, donate to, or host a fundraiser to ensure that there are resources to help the community know who their candidates are, what they stand for, and what measures are on the ballot.
Attend Events: From town halls to rallies to committee meetings and more, there are so many ways to connect with others in your community and your local elected officials to learn what is going on and how you can have a voice in your community.
Stay Informed: Read newsletters, pamphlets, bulletins, and more. Listen to podcasts and local news. Keep learning and feel free to reach out to your local Central Committee with any questions you have.
